March 22, 2011 was our Sentosa Day! There were a couple times that I kept on snoozing the alarm clock because I was still feeling sleepy. I kept glancing at Daphne's bed if she was awake already but when I saw that she wasn't, I just went back to sleep. Simple as that. But then when Daphne realized it was past 7 o'clock in the morning already, she really tapped me on the shoulder to wake up. That's when I really woke up and went down the bed, careful not to wake the Filipina (DDG Nathan's friend) in the lower bunk bed.
We returned upstairs to prepare for our big day. When we were done, we returned downstairs to get water and moved on. We also reenacted a story that took place last night concerning the door. HAHA. Last night, we were going out to get some food around the hostel and we didn't know how to open the door from the inside. Mr. T only gave us a combination, a key for the door upstairs, and the padlock for the lockers. Obviously, the combination was the only thing we could use to open the door but still, we were clueless. And then one guy from the group of Guinness Record said we just push the big white button. HAHA. Thanks to him we got out last night! ((:
Joo Chiat Road was more pleasant to look at day time. I clearly saw that the streets were clean, busy people working or doing their plans for the day, and the houses were either still silent or preparing up for their businesses.
We nearly got lost again but thanks to the people we asked directions to. We saw a lot of schools while we were walking around. Luckily, we got to the nearest bus stop just in time. But I think we lost a lot of time and energy walking because of that. We were only walking around Joo Chiat Road and it was really embarrassing. The first bus stop that we stood in was not the correct one. It was a good thing that someone pointed us to the other bus stop at the opposite side of the street. At the bus stop, we met a very nice Chinese lady (I forgot her name) who helped us how to get to Bugis Junction. When we stepped inside the bus, we had to pay some cents but we were out of coins so we just paid a whole two dollar bill. "Sayang," said Daphne (haha). We did not seat beside the lady inside the bus but she still guided us until we got to our destination at Bugis Junction. From the bus stop, we immediately saw the Money Changer and had our PHP converted to SGD right away. Solb!
We got on the train again to Imbiah Station in order to see the Merlion and figure out what's in there. We saw KFC and we got really hungry. But we still decided to look for the Songs of the Sea location first before we eat. We also thought of looking for other places to eat besides KFC. So we rode the train again to Beach Station where we found the Songs of the Sea location. But we did not find any other place to eat. There were plenty of other rides there which did not quite interest us much. Maybe because all we were thinking about was food already. You can get pretty hungry easily when you are walking all day.
So went back to Imbiah Station and dined at KFC. Watchout: KFC Singapore serves no rice at all. Here's a good tip: Buy mashed potato instead to go with your chicken. And don't buy gravy anymore if you can bear it. It costs another dollar. But we missed eating chicken a lot so it somehow satisfied our appetites. ((:
Another thing, the other sauces they serve tasted awful so don't bother. I'd rather stick with the usual chicken and gravy.
Our itinerary for the night was different from each other. Daphne bought a Songs of the Sea ticket so she was staying in Sentosa. As for me, I was going to see The Lion King in Marina Bay Sands Theatre. It was not that dangerous to be alone at night in Singapore but still, we feared of getting lost. I would get to this story later.
So when it was seven o'clock already, I traveled out of Sentosa towards Marina Bay Sands by myself. This was definitely my first "alone time" in Singapore and I was feeling a little nervous but more excited to see The Lion King. It was around an hour before the show starts so I thought I could really make it fast by taking my time. But I didn't. I ended up running and dashing my way through the mall and to the train station. Luckily, I still remembered where the train station was located in VivoCity and then I went down again at Outram Park, walked to nowhere, and I really couldn't remember even though I am now looking at the map. But the only thing I could remember was I followed the right color lines which led me to Promenade MRT station wherein I almost got lost again because I didn't know which way towards Marina Bay Sands. I was walking to the right path already when I gathered all my strength to ask this pretty young girl who was also kind enough to talk to me and help me find an MRT worker because she didn't also know the right way. I just told her I could go to the office which was nearly a mile from where I was and find a worker so I just thanked her. Luckily, I found a lady officer and asked her where to go to Marina Bay Sands and she directly pointed me to way where I was going in the first place. Whew! I nearly ran down the pedestrian footpath to Marina Bay Sands. I was even lucky enough to meet a woman who happened to be working at the Marina Bay Sands Casino and she helped me out. She even asked me, "Are you going to walk?" When I said "Yes" out of my breath, she said "Come." I really pitied her because she was taking her time to walk and I was there to make her hurry. I skipped and ran at the same time. I could not remember what I did but in my mind, it was already a few minutes pass 8 o'clock and the show could have started or about to start! I didn't know which! But I was thinking of my wasted money already. The woman said she also experienced the same thing when she watched a ballet show in the theater. When you came in late, you could not go in anymore unless there was a very long break. I got really worried. Ha-ha. I was really hoping I could make it! When we finally got inside the mall, I could not believe it. The mall was like an airport! The woman also asked for directions to the theater and so went directly down to the escalators as quickly as we could. I was about to run when I glanced back at her, she motioned her head as if to say, "Go! Run!" And I quickly said, "Thank you!" and made a quick dash. I felt like I was "Flash." ;)

At first I didn't understand it quite clearly and I only comprehended "10-15 minutes." But I immediately thought, "He is still giving me my ticket so maybe the show has not started yet." I could jump for joy if I was with someone but I was alone. HAHA. As I passed through the bag check counter, I quickly said I had a camera but the checker didn't even mind. I just opened my bag, he looked at it with a big smile, and then he let me pass. Weird. I was not experiencing panic any longer so I was really calm. I made my way to the right doors of the theater easily and the usher led me to my seat. The theater was almost full already and a lot of people were either standing or sitting on their seats. I guess I really got so lucky! When I reached my seat and sat down, I breathed very deeply and relaxed. I made it! I really thanked God during that moment. He also made a way for me to buy a ticket to this show using my credit card online. I also got one of the good seats! Even though I was sitting all alone, I knew I was meant to be there. That was a date between me and my God. <3
No words can describe what I have felt when I watched The Lion King. I have watched a mini show of this movie in Disneyland HK though really different because this was a Disney on Broadway Musical. From the moment the show started up to the end, I was incessantly crying my heart out and literally crying with tears swelling in my eyes. "What happened?," you may ask. It was just so beautiful and dreamy that it brought me closer to my childhood. And strange as it may seemed but Mufasa reminded me of God. It reminded me how marvelous He has been in my life. I wouldn't forget it and I would surely play it in my mind over and over again with the songs, "Circle of Life," "Grasslands Chant," "The Lionness Hunt," "I Just Can't Wait To Be King," "They Live In You," "Hakuna Matata," "One By One," and of course, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" Not only were the songs amazing, but the character's acting and voices were incredible. Even the costumes, production design, and even the backdrops were fantastic. My most favorite part was when Mufasa's face came out suddenly. Everyone in the audience was like, "Woah!" I wouldn't mind watching this show again for it was indeed worth my money, my time, and my ultimate run. ((:
Actually, I wouldn't really forget this night. Hahaha. Somehow, a big blessing was followed by a huge disappointment. ((:< I was glad that the show has ended early around 10:30 pm. Daphne and I were supposed to meet at Aljunied MRT station at 11:00 pm. I arrived at the next station to Aljunied which is Paya Lebar a few minutes past 11:00 and waited. I texted her several times not to meet at Aljunied but at Paya Lebar instead because it was closer to Betel Box Hostel. But it flew out of my mind that she was using her Smart number. I texted her Globe number instead. She also told me that she was texting me several times but I didn't get any of her text messages. I was really getting worried. I went up and down the station, hoping I could catch a glimpse of her but she didn't come. I even asked the MRT clerks on how to get to Joo Chiat Road if ever I was going home on my own. They had a map and told me the directions. I decided to go up again and stay there because I know that staying at one place was the best thing to do when a person is lost and supposed to meet somebody. So I just waited.. waited.. and waited. I even met a nice girl who was also waiting for her friend. She kept talking to me for awhile and it somehow eased my worry. I was about to ask her if I could borrow her phone to ring Daphne but then her friend came and they were gone. I was left alone again. I waited... waited once more... until the last train arrived at past 12 midnight. I was crying at the station like someone who has just had her heart broken because of a lover who did not come. Seriously, an old man who went out of the train even stopped to ask me, "Are you alright? Are you looking for somebody? Is he a boy?... (I'm still crying) or a girl?" I explained to him quickly that I was waiting for a friend who was a girl. And she said I should call my friend at once. But I didn't know how to answer him anymore because I couldn't call when I'm in roaming so I just nodded and said my thanks. :|
When all my hopes were gone, I just decided that maybe Daphne decided to go home as well. So I just walked down the platform and proceeded to the bus stop. At the bus stop, I asked for directions on how to get to Joo Chiat Road. Unfortunately, there was no bus going straight to Joo Chiat Road, only Joo Chiat Lane. I think I asked a Filipino (who happened to have mistaken me for a Chinese maybe) said that she didn't know where Joo Chiat Road was. Luckily, there was this girl who was also waiting for a bus who helped me find out using the big bus schedule at the station. She told me I should take Bus 155 which passes by Joo Chiat Lane. She also said it was the last bus and it would arrive soon. It was pass 12 midnight already and I was getting worried about how Daphne would get to the hostel. After a couple of minutes which I thought would be forever, Bus 155 arrived. I told the driver that I was going to Joo Chiat Road. But he said he was just going to pass Joo Chiat Lane. I was really getting worried when I was the only passenger on board. I also noticed that he pressed off the lights and disabled the ticketing machine. I think the driver was an angel because even though he was not supposed to pass by the nearest place to Joo Chiat Road, he did drop me at the nearest landmark, the Joo Chiat Place. I kept saying "Thank you" to him. I could not help appreciating what he did for a poor lost tourist like me. Actually, I did not recognize it but I knew I was in the right place. Tears were already swelling in my eyes not because I did not feel safe but the fact that I was lost made me really afraid. It was a long walk. When I got to the nearest corner, I immediately knew I was in the right place. Betel Box Hostel was near. That was the only time that I got a text message from Daphne. I couldn't know if she was at home or still at the station by her text message so I just told her I was walking towards Betel Box Hostel already and asked where she was. I was standing in front of the door, hoping for someone to come out. I also got afraid when a decent man (but like a DOM) looked at me and said something and motioned me to go to him. I looked away from him and he didn't mind me after that. I moved towards the door but I just realized I forgot the door code. I attempted to text but I was out of credits again. I was about to press the emergency button when the door flew open. I really didn't know who opened it but I thought it was an angel again. As I stepped in, I immediately saw Daphne at the top of the stairs, sitting on the bench. She stood up when she saw me. I looked at her sad face, cried, and burried my face in my hands. She ran to me and we hugged each other crying like lost souls. I told her that I am sorry between sobs but mostly it was just sobs. I even heard someone asked, "Are you okay?" But I didn't see who it was. We just stood there crying for awhile.
After we have calmed down, Daphne and I conversed about what happened. We also went downstairs to talk to Mr. T only to found out that he was the one who called out to us when I arrived. I really thought it was you know. HAHA. At the corner of my eye, I thought I saw Nathan at the table but I couldn't also be sure. We used the internet for awhile to communicate with Lorenz and ate Sen through Facebook because we were meeting them the next day. Nathan was nowhere to be found that night. Yeah, it made us sadder. LOL. After calming ourselves, laughing aside, looking at our poor itinerary one last time, and preparing for sleep, we called it a day.
This was one day that I would never ever forget as long as I live. Wet and wild, lost and found. It was one Iyak-tawa adventure, alright. ;)

Inside the mall, we walked towards the Bugis MRT Station and bought our Singapore Tourist Passes. When I was buying mine, I said something in Filipino like "Ito na po." I totally forgot that I was supposed to be in English mode already. ((: The Singapore Tourist Pass offers unlimited use to every SMRT (excluding SBS transit) bus, MRT, and LRT station in Singapore depending on how many days you opted for it. We had two-day unlimited passes. Cool, right?
From the Bugis MRT station, we alighted at Outram Park to get to the Purple Line. From Outram Park, we went to Harbour Front which led us to Vivo City.

At Vivo City, we had to go up to the 3rd floor in order to board the train to Sentosa World. By the time we got there, our stomachs were grumbling already so we decided to eat at Food Republic. The price range of the foods were a bit high but they were really in big amounts that could fulfill one's stomach and the taste was really good.
After eating lunch, we bought our tickets to Sentosa World and went towards Sentosa Station. The train was cute and the views were fantastic. Everything was clean, neat and orderly. I felt complete peace deep down in me just by being in this country.
Let me tell you about a little blooper once again. Daphne and I were having fun seeing the view and taking some pictures when the train stopped at Waterfront Station. We already saw some parts of the Universal Studios so we hopped out of the train. But then we sort of wondered, "Is this really it?" (Ito na ba 'to?!) So we hopped in the train again and asked two girls, "Is this the station to Universal Studios?" Actually, my question was a bit longer than this because I couldn't think straight due to my confusion. And then when I heard her said "Yes," I immediately turned around towards the door and hopped out again. Of course, Daphne was with me all along. Good thing the doors were still open! I didn't get to thank the girl properly though. ((:

We sat on the benches for awhile to organize our things and then we proceeded to the Ticket Counter to buy our tickets. Of course, we didn't need to mention that we posed in front of the Universal Studios' globe. Btw, I just did. HAHA. But the trip wouldn't be complete without it. :-)
As you can see up in those pictures, Daphne and I went into as so many rides as our schedule and feet could sustain us. I was shocked that every ride we rode in has a locker room which was free for 30 minutes. If the bags inside were kept for more than 30 minutes, then it costs a dollar or so depending on the ride. We made the most out of every locker room and ran so fast to get our stuffs after each ride. ((: All the rides were really fun and exciting but there was one ride that got us all WEEEEEEEEET from head to toe. T_T We did not pack any extra clothes with us so it was extremely cold for the rest of the day. After that, we called it our last ride though we proceeded to The Water World at first but the last show was already over. Bummer. We missed it due to Rapids Adventure. We should have gone there last. But we also learned that The Water World can also wet you from head to toe. HAHA. So it's fine.
We tried to dry up in the rest room for around 30 minutes but unluckily, we still felt cold and wet. So we decided to make one last walk around Universal Studios before we said "bye bye" to Hollywood.
We also took pictures outside Universal Studios and visited the fab store named Candilicious. I didn't realize right away that taking photos of the candies weren't allowed. HAHA. At first, I didn't know that it was the store where ate Sen was working. Haha. But when we were getting out of the store, I heard someone calling out my name. I really wondered at that time, "Who is calling me here in Singapore??" HAHAHA. And then when I turned around, ate Sen was already running up to us. Awwww, I missed her so much! I gave her a big hug and introduced her to Daphne. She also said we could communicate in Facebook in order for us to arrange our meeting the next day. I got too excited! ;)

Let me tell you why our fate brought us here.. We were waiting in the line but we kept wishing of not being included in this group of Malaysian youth who were all excited and giddy. But unluckily, we accompanied their boat because there were only two of us and there were six of them. Saktong malas. During the ride, there were really small possibilities of getting wet and we were already calm and having fun when all of a sudden, there was this huge leap into a dark cave and we immersed in the water! Just our side! Can you believe it??? All of the youth group were like thanking God for their big luck and we were soaking wet! HAHAHA. We hated it. But looking at ourselves, we totally laughed it off.

I couldn't know if she was at home or still at the station by her text message so I just told her I was walking towards Betel Box Hostel already and asked where she was. I was standing in front of the door, hoping for someone to come out. I also got afraid when a decent man (but like a DOM) looked at me and said something and motioned me to go to him. I looked away from him and he didn't mind me after that. I moved towards the door but I just realized I forgot the door code. I attempted to text but I was out of credits again. I was about to press the emergency button when the door flew open. I really didn't know who opened it but I thought it was an angel again. As I stepped in, I immediately saw Daphne at the top of the stairs, sitting on the bench. She stood up when she saw me. I looked at her sad face, cried, and burried my face in my hands. She ran to me and we hugged each other crying like lost souls. I told her that I am sorry between sobs but mostly it was just sobs. I even heard someone asked, "Are you okay?" But I didn't see who it was. We just stood there crying for awhile.After we have calmed down, Daphne and I conversed about what happened. We also went downstairs to talk to Mr. T only to found out that he was the one who called out to us when I arrived. I really thought it was you know. HAHA. At the corner of my eye, I thought I saw Nathan at the table but I couldn't also be sure. We used the internet for awhile to communicate with Lorenz and ate Sen through Facebook because we were meeting them the next day. Nathan was nowhere to be found that night. Yeah, it made us sadder. LOL. After calming ourselves, laughing aside, looking at our poor itinerary one last time, and preparing for sleep, we called it a day.
